The Impact Of Children’s Quality Time Which Is Spent With Mothers To The Children’s Development Level
The basic aim of this research which is prepared in the direction to observe the impact of “quality time” which is spent with parents to the development level of children is to be able to show the foreseen positive impact of quality time spent by 0-6 year old children with mothers to the development level of children. In the research; the development levels of children, the maternal behaviour, the quality time behaviour of mothers, the age of mothers, levels of education, work status etc. varieties have been compared, moreover, the impact of mothers quality time which they spent with their own mothers to their maternal behaviour have been examined. The database process of the research are completed with the children between the ages of 3-5 and their mothers at two private and two governmental kindergarten in İstanbul. Denver 2 Development scan Test has been given to total 100 children and their mothers have been tested by PARI Family Life and Children Developing Behaviour Scale and the quality time Questionairre which is prepared by the researcher. At the process of data solution, Kruskal Wallis Test, Chi-Square Analysis, T test and Variance Analysis have been used.
Results of the Research : When the level of education, age and work status increase at the mother status, their maternal behaviour have positive difference. The mothers who could not spend quality time with their own mother, have high level of “incompatibility” at their maternal behaviour. The research have stressed the mothers reflection of their quality time spent with their own mothers to their children and gave actual examples related with changing cultural structure. Furthermore, it gave the opportunity to discuss the advanced age reliability of Denver 2 Development Test which is widely used.
