The Woman Kind from a Mental Health Care Professional Perspective

Gender and family related issues are among the most common that mental health care professionals come across. When dealing with gender and family related issues, mental health care professional’s own beliefs, views and attitudes are worth considering. In the society that we live in, where traditional and idealized sex roles and family relationships are common, inequalities associated with gender are more than frequent. As far as we know, there is no published study in Turkey, on mental health care professionals’ beliefs, views and attitudes on gender related issues and on how the professionals deal with these issues in practice. This study aims at understanding the stance of health care professionals’ on issues of gender, gender role and family and how they live with this stance in practice.
