Meaning of “Intimacy” in Modern Times
Interpersonal approach has raised after World War II, and emphasized the idea that intimacy is the key component for the formation of the “self”. However, meaning of “intimacy” has also changed by time. Intimacy is mostly correlated with romanitic love now and modern culture emphasizes that marriages should only based on this romantic love inorder to satisfy the needed intimate relationship. Critical analysis of these accepted norms should be done and psychotherapies that are more culturally oriented should be constructed.
