2nd. Round…

Divorce rates in the Western world reaches 40-60%, and there is a an increase in our country. In Turkey, the divorce rates occur mostly in the first 5 years and it is thought that, those rates could be higher among the younger generation. The clinical observations also support that divorces in younger generation are increasing day by day. Thus, according to the statistical data, female divorce rates are between 25-29 and for male it is between 30- 34. The divorce rates, leads to 2nd and the 3rd marriages. For example, in the Unites States, the 55% of divorced males over 25 and the 44% of divorced females are remarrying. It is reported that the avarage of age for males is 35.1 and for females it’s 32.7. Recent data indicates that the rate of second marriages increase rapidly and is directly linked to ever-increasing rate of divorce particularly in young population in our country.

As a developmental crisis, marriage and difficulties in itself and divorce resulting from not being able to continue a marriage cause psychological, sociological and financial effects. Considering those effects, remarriages will be affected both in positive and negative ways from the previous experiences. Moreover, factors such as the duration of the marriage, reasons underlying the divorce and children makes situation more complicated. Finally, not being able to manage properly the tirangle including the previous partner, the new partner and remarried individual, would cause various problems, especially when they have children from their previous marriages…

In this workshop, some statistical and theoritical data on marriage, divorce and remarriage processes will be presented and therapeutic interventions and clinical practices will be pointed over the case studies.
